Entry #49 day 40

Last night I took a ride in to the Duval St area to see what all the fuss was about. Had a nice ride in from the hotel.

I put a couple beers in my back pack, not because I am cheap but the $7.50 beer that I bought at Hogs Breath was the same price as a six pack.......Ok I guess I am just cheap. The music was good so I felt obligated to buy that $7.50 bee

Here is another bar I didn’t go to.

It was nice walking around and seeing the sites but I new I had to get up early to be at the car rental place when they opened.

Oh crap now I have to find my bike.

I got up early so I could be at the car rental counter when they opened, I snapped 2 quick pictures on the way there. As I was walking in to the rental counter I see a group of 4 people walk right in front of me to be the first customers of the day. Sooo 20 minutes latter I get to the desk. The attendant was very helpful however the first car she assigned to me was not ready so she gave me another car but had to fuel it up first. I left Key West at 8 AM for a 3-1/2 hour to Miami so I could catch an 11:50  train departure.
train departure.

After a fast ride to Miami Including time to drop off the the rental car, re-assemble my bike, pedal over to the train station on a semi flat rear tire, I was so excited to see the Amtrak station, I was so happy and I felt I even had enough time to take a picture I was so happy.

I had 10 - 15 minutes to spare and when I rolled my bike to the baggage car, where the conductor informed me that they would not be able to take the bike with the trailer unless it was broken down and the parts were checked in individually, he also informed me that the train was not going to wait
for me. When I went to reschedule for the next day I was informed there were no seats available so I tried to book the next day but my baggage would not be allowed on the Acela leg of the trip...... I read a stat one time that said if you took all the money to run Amtrak and divided it by the number of passengers that use it, they could have instead used that money to buy each passenger a 1st class ticket on an airplane anytime they wanted to travel somewhere. I guess you can tell I am NOT AN AMTRAK fan. Oh yah and they kept $38 dollars of my ticket price when I asked for a refund even though I had formally submitted an inquiry online to Amtrak to find out if the trailer would be allowed on the train.  So as it stands now I am renting an SUV tomorrow and driving home, I hope to have 1 more post to let you know if I make it home.
