Entry # 40 Day 31
I make it a point every year to catch at least one sunrise, I think I have met my quota for the next 15 years.
This is what my camp looks like when I begin the packing process, you think I would be better at it by now.
Boy to think all this time I was worried about poisonous snakes and alligators, when the real danger was the oyster shells.
The sirens song of the lighthouse lured me back, who can resist their majestic beauty, standing like sentinels in the night and offfering up beautiful views for anyone who cares to climb their spiral staircase........What??? 13 dollars to climb the lighthouse.......you seen one lighthouse you seen them all.
I arrived at Fort Matanzas 5 minutes after the ferry left the dock, It would be an hour before the next ferry would leave. I didn’t wait because this trip is not about sight seeing it’s more about just seeing the sights.
Who ever the architect was that designed this restroom was obviously a Jetsons fan like me.
I was cruising along the ocean when my day suddenly got weird, I saw a gentleman standing on somebody’s front lawn, he had a bicycle with him and was using the property owners garden hose to rinse himself off. This gentleman started yelling at me so I stopped to see what he wanted. He asked if I had any Desitin to help him with his chafing, I informed him that I had none but offered him some Chamois butter. After placing a glob of the Chamois Butter in his hand he began applying it to his nether regions right there in the street, he wanted to tell me his story and asked if I wanted to stop at the bar up the road to have a beer, I agreed to stop with the understanding that he would have to wash his hands before we would shake and formally introduce ourselves. After a couple beers, a burger and some free Marital I was on my way, I wished him all the best of luck and also advised him to get some panniers instead of Wal-mart bags hanging from his handle bars. This was the bar we stopped at, I chose not to take his picture but I really hope things work out for him, he was a nice guy.
I took this picture for an old co-worker that was following this blog, guess what his last name is.
This is the hotel I am staying at in Daytona, That’s my balcony on the 4th floor 5th from the left.
The night was almost as weird as the day but I did get 55 miles in hoping to get some high miles in the next 3 days.
