Entry #35 day 26
Had a great day today, roads were flat and no headwinds. Left Beaufort around 930 AM traveling on OK roads with no issues. This was one of the many bridges I crossed on my way to Savanah GA.
I even stopped on the bridge to watch this guy bring in a big fish.
I found a little more road treasure today......because you never know when you will need one of these on a bike trip.
This was a welcome sight even though I had a big bridge to cross. As I got close to beginning the climb up this bridge my GPS told me to take a right, I was taking the ferry across the river.....yessss.
A square rotary sign?
Watching the ships go by while waiting for the ferry.
This was the little passenger ferry I took over, it was jam packed with people including me with my bike, I wanted to get a picture on the ferry but I had to hold my bike so it didn’t hit anybody, getting on and off was an operation in itself.
This was the cool waterfront area, they had a music festival going on, everybody walking aroundwith beers.
Soooo when in Rome.
Couldn’t go inside this church somebody was getting married,, maybe next time.
Went to see the park where Forest Gump waited for the bus, the bench is in a museum but it was still kind of cool just seeing the park. Who knew I was such a big Tom Hanks fan.
This is the fountain in Forsyth Park, Disney was filming a movie here.
This city is also on my Must Come Back To list, I love all the parks and the old buildings are incredible.
This was my home for the night, in all my life I have never had such a cool tent site, it is a little difficult to stake the tent down though.
Oh Yah there was one slight problem with the site. The campground employee that brought me to my site told me the gators are little ones no bigger than 4 feet, I said “oh good only big enough to take just a hand or a foot, nothing to worry about then.” Later in the evening a fisherman went by in his boat and told me that there is one gator that always hangs out under my platform. I am at the CreekFire RV resort just outside of Savannah, if you don’t hear from me again just have them drag the lake.
