Entry #32 day 23

Woke up a little early and feeling sluggish, last night I put on my bathing suit and headed down to the beach for a healing dip, on the way there I stoppped at the pool bar to have a beer, it was just my luck I sat next to a retired Firefighter from the Bronx. So I think 4 beers later I headed back up to my room to make dinner, at least I didn’t have to dry out my suit. Got up early to catch the daily sunrise from my deck.

Oh yah and had a cup of coffee.

Here is a picture of the resort, it has a Bajillion stories and I get put on the 2nd floor, oh well at least it wasn’t the first floor. Man I feel bad for those suckers.

Myrtle beach didn’t do much for me, it was kind of like Atlantic City with mini golf instead of casinos. It was bike week at Myrtle beach so I was hoping to buy some new padded bike shorts but all I could find was motorcycle stuff, I didn’t think leather shorts would work, too much chaffing.

Oh man another fine vehicle to pick from, I wish they were all in the same car lot so I could do a side by side comparison. Could you imagine the look on the guys face when you pull up to an automatic car wash and ask for the regular wash.

I think this is my only bike path I have taken in SC, it is not a bike friendly state at all, I don’t think they have a single street sweeper in the whole state judging by the mounds of sand in the intersections, and that’s my last complaint.

The inter coastal waterway, someday I want to travel this entire body of water.

A cool old building in Georgetown probably historic for some reason I don’t know.

Stopped in at the Georgetown FD, everybody on their cell phones or computers, not a real friendly bunch, so I filled my water bottle and left.

The wonderful google maps sent me four miles down this little country. Road and then told me to take a right onto this dirt road posted No Tresspassing.

I always consider my self a law abiding citizen so I did the right thing but if I hadn’t I would have found myself peddling down a sandy sometimes muddy road winding through the woods and eventually coming up to a very scary hunting camp, there could have been one car at this camp and a tool sounding like a leaf blower or maybe a hot air popcorn popper running, if this happened I would have peddled by very fast only to possibly see another even scarier looking camp that was boarded up with abandoned vehicles parked there like something from a horror movie set, and then google maps
would have told me to take a left down an even scarier path but at that point I am sure I would have ignored Google and continued on the main path for a total of 5-6 miles before I would have made it to a paved road. This is what would have happened if I had Tresspassed.

After a 60 mile ride I finally made it to the Santee Wild life refuge. Unfortunately I thought I was peddling to Santee State park where the campground is, so I had to peddle an additional13 miles to get to the Buck Hill water reserve park about 20 something miles Morth of Charleston. When I was picking out a site a guy told me don’t go over to that site there is a copperhead on the site, he also told me they killed one by the bathroom. Later while I was setting up the site I had my sandals on and a frog jumped on my toe, when you have copperheads on your mind a frog can really make you jump.
Oh ya I had 5 little tree frogs in the shower with me, the one sitting on the shower head kind of freaked me out, I think he was the leader.

This meal was so awesome, I had been waiting to eat this for over a week.
