11th entry Day#4
I woke up for day 4 not very rested but ready to tackle Newark NJ. It was going to be an Easy day of only 36 miles so I new I could take my time. I started the day by carrying my bike up a pedestrian crosswalk over a highway not a great start. Then at times I was not sure what side of the guard rail to be riding on so I found myself encountering dead ends, I even found plastic bottles with yellow liquid in them, I don’t think it was Gatorade. I also have a fear that I might get a Tick from all the over grown vegetation on the trail so I slathered myself up with DEET.
I eventually found myself on US Truck Route 1 between lanes on a 2 foot wide median with trucks going by me at 60 MPH I was scared S*&#less but it was the correct route and I made it out alive.
Not sure if this is the bridge in the sopranos but it didn’t mater I kept humming the theme song to the show all day long.
I found a Verizon store in Westfield NJ? I was helped by a guy named Jamie which happens to be the nickname we called our son when he was younger, so I new I was in good hands. The gentleman helped restore my pictures and explained the Email, Gmail, Verizon Cloud, I-cloud mystery that idiots like me don’t understand, the guy saved my life. Here’s a picture of the NJ Devils arena.
The rest of the trip to my hotel in Plainfield NJ went very good including a compliment from a school crossing guard who looked at my bike and said “ you set yourself up with a very sweet ride there” I just smiled and said “Thank you I think it’s pretty sweet too”
I have not been rushing too much because I still don’t Know if Hurricane Florence is going to ruin my trip????
