Entry #28 day 19
Last night had to be the worst night so far, it would rain on an off throughout the night for about 20 minutes at a whack, every time I would open the storm flaps on the tent to let some cool air in it would start raining again, so then I would have to shut them again, it was a cruel game. In the morning I paid the owner of the campground for the site, I told him that I had not filled up my water bottle because the water smelled a little funky, he informed me that they had to bleach the wells again, hard to believe but I felt even dirtier thinking about last nights shower. This little tree frog was sitting on my bike headlight when I woke up, that made me happy.
This was the view from the bridge leaving Cedar Island.
The owner of the campground suggested that this place has good egg sandwiches so I stopped in and found they had packaged Jimmy Dean sandwiches that you microwaved, the clerk at the convenience store said only microwave it for 35 seconds, I put the sand which in the microwave and pressed 3 but before I could press 5 the microwave was cooking my sandwich the timer said 2 minutes and 16 seconds, I couldn’t subtract 35 seconds from 2:16, I don’t think anyone could do that math, so I just counted up as the seconds ticked down. The sand which was delicious but after last nights meal
anything would have tasted good.
As I was leaving the store I decided to look for my gas cylinder I could not believe my eyes they had a cylinder, I wanted to hug the clerk but I just gave him the 6 bucks instead. This was going to be a good day no brown tepid water for breakfast anymore.
Riding through the area of NC called Down East I began to see a lot of damage, You have have to love people that have a sense of humor during adversity.
I couldn’t believe my eyes that was easier than I thought.
Doh
This is the view from my campsite at Goose Creek campground in carteret county NC.
This sign is about 30 feet away from my site.
I stopped at a firehouse today to grab a water, they gave me a couple of leftover MRE s, I passed on the soy meat burger but took a veggie lasagna and a cheese tortaloni, it was delicious.
I am developing some kind of finger fungus from wearing my damp gloves every day, between sweat and rain the gloves never dry out, hopefully the ointment I bought will take care of it, other than that I feel fine.
Not a bad reward for a 61 mile ride, It was a good day.
