Entry #25 day 18

Before I tell you about my day I want to thank all my family and friends who have sent wonderful E-mails and comments of encouragement, those words have helped me through some tough days. Last night I saw an E-mail on my desktop regarding how much the person enjoyed reading my blog, when I tried to read the E-mail it was gone and I could not find it, I was very upset because I wanted to read the E-mail and thank the sender. So I just want to let people know that if you send me an E-mail or a comment and I don’t reply its just because I am a techno idiot and I screwed up, unless your name is Kyle then I might just be ignoring You.

I am writing this blog at the Ocean Waves campground, I am about 50 feet away from the dunes and maybe 250 feet away from the ocean, there is an almost full moon and the wind is blowing it is an almost perfect night, just missing my wife.

The day was sunny and hot, I did most of my riding on the Virginia Dare Trail with a 10-15 Mph tail wind, I could not ask for better conditions.

I visited the Wright Brothers memorial At Kill Devil Hill, this was the closest they would allow the Rincon near the monument, they said it would be too dangerous to ride on the hill......Really.

I had visited this site when i was a kid and remembered being in awe, well that feeling is only more intense now that I am older. I had recently read the book The Wright Brothers by David McCullough so all that history was fresh in my mind. I loved the inscription at the base of the monument “ Acheived by Dautless Resolution and Unconquerable Faith” It gave me chills.

And ladies if you are looking for Mister wright here they are Wilbur and Orville. Speaking of which here I am with a couple of their buddies.

Looks like the Wrights used the same quality components you would find on the Rincon.

The worlds largest Adirondack chair.

This was one massive bridge that was absolutely no fun to cross, I am starting to develop a slight bridge phobia.

This was like riding through the desert without the camels, belly dancers and a cool oasis.

I guess this was kind of an oasis, it was the Pea Island visitor center,  I got a cold bottle of water and a package of those orange crackers with peanut butter, not sure why they make them crackers orange? I got to talk with the volunteers Lauren and George, they lead a very interesting life as volunteers with the US Fish and Wildlife Services. I could  have talked with them for hours if not for the fact I had to find a place to sleep for the night. Also I had to leave because I was Illegaly parked.

When I stoppped for the night I began talking to some fellow campers at the campground, next thing I knew they invited me to their pot luck dinner, It was awesome we ate brat wurst with home made Fries, drank beer and had a great time. They made me feel so welcome it was wonderful. If I have learned only one thing from this trip it is that we live in a world were people are very nice but we never hear about it, we only hear about the hate and the ugly side of people, the goodness is out there and it is very strong. Boy I just read this post and I sounded like a cross between Jerry Springer and Yoda but in the end it is truley  how I feel.
