Entry # 23 Day 16
I left Suffolk Va this morning, another overcast day like almost everyday of this trip. I went down this street and rode by Birdsong peanut factory, Suffolk is also the home of Planters peanuts, I couldn’t help but wonder if the first question on a job application to work at these companies is Do You Have any Nut Allergies?
This Copperhead scared me more than a coiled up black bungee cord, he was either dead or just sunning himself.
I was so excited to travel through this park, Google maps had me crossing the lower section of the park, when I got to the road that would take me through the park there was a gate and a no trespassing sign, to add insult to injury when google maps rerouted me it added 10 miles to my days trip for a total of 58 miles, my day finished in Elizabeth city NC.
In the middle of the street next to the Great Dismal Swamp I encountered a chihuahua libre, AKA a chihuahua off leash, he backed down and left me alone, a few miles later 2 Pit bull libres jumped of the front steps and chased me down the road, I couldn’t take a picture of them, go figure, I also learned how fast I could accelerate with that bike trailer attached.
I took this picture just in case I want to open my own Jig saw puzzle company, I think this would be a challenging puzzle, plus I liked the picture.
This was a welcome sight.
This must get expensive for anyone that owns a car, it would suck having to replace the headlights After the fire goes out.
I stoped to ask this guy if he needed any help, I told him I had food and water if he needed anything, he said he was all set and someone was coming to pull him out, I could have thrown a chain on the Rincon, dropped it in low low but he said he was all set, 2 other cars stopped to offer him help while I was talking to him, people are very nice here.
HEY!!! I used to yell that out every time the kids were riding in the car and I saw hay, so Jay and Danielle this picture is for you.
I stopped at this gas station for a Gatorade, they sold gas, food, farm equipment even AR 15s, I’ll just take a Gatorade for now Thank you. Pretty cool store.
When I was a kid and even into young adulthood I had an aversion to drinking water from a bathroom sink, but 40 plus miles of cycling in the heat through these fields made me forget that the water in my Camelback came from the bathroom sink of a low budget Hotel, it tasted so good.
I took this picture looking back at the work site, It cracked me up that no cars were coming in either direction but the sign holder still made me stop, maybe I was going a little to fast for the work zone.

This snake was dead, unless snakes sleep on their back?
