5th entry going back 2 years
A few years ago I had found a story about the East Coast Greenway, after reading about it I knew I had to do it start to finish. http://greenway.org So in the fall of 2016 my wife and I drove up to St Andrews Canada where we spent the night at the Algonquin hotel, which I would highly recommend. The next day she dropped me off with my bicycle in Calais Maine at the starting point of the Greenway, after we said our goodbyes I watched her drive away and the rain started to fall, I thought to myself...What the hell am I doing?
I had seen Moose while wandering through moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge and I do mean wandering because there was no cell coverage up there, I just went the way that felt right, I think I got lucky.
I just remember wanting to quit on the Sunrise trail on day1. The rain the sand in the shorts and slogging along at 5 MPH when the sign post says 27 miles left is demoralizing but I made it and was so glad I didn’t quit.
The Maine coast was beautiful, the camping was awesome and after that first day it was a great trip ending in Hampton NH, my happy place.
